| PROJECT DESCRIPTION |
This project is part of a capital campaign to make major renovations to the Parks-owned building that is currently home to the Cascade People's Center. The Center provides services and programs to the diverse Cascade community.
The building is adjacent to the Cascade P-Patch. It is also next to Cascade Playground, which was recently renovated through a Pro Parks Levy project and with contributions from local businesses.
Through a Department of Neighborhoods neighborhood matching fund grant, a plan has been developed for a Cascade Eco-Renovation Project. The project aims to retain the building's current functions while also demonstrating renewable technologies such as passive solar heating, photovoltaic panels, the harvest and re-use of rainwater, and greywater reclamation through biological filtration.
The community envisions the building's eco-renovation as part of the ongoing evolution of Cascade Park into a model for ecological urban land use. |
