PROJECT STATUS
Thank you, Seattle. This project is complete!
Construction is complete though there are a few outstanding work items that need to be addressed. As a result, construction fencing will remain in the north area of the park.
The November rains resulted in a new spring arising in the area of the picnic shelters. In order to allow this water to run off sight, a new drainage system must be installed. The asphalt paths also require another topping coat to repair damage that occurred after they were first installed.
The water spray feature was activated at the opening celebration that took place on June 23, 2007.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project improves a portion of a 5.8 acre park that is part
of Seattle Housing Authoritys (SHA) New Holly development. SHA
developed the first phase of park improvements and this Pro Parks
project implements the second phase.
Improvements include a water spray feature for children's play, two picnic shelters, and a comprehensive system of connecting paths. A community p-patch will likely be developed at the north end of the project site within the next couple of years.
37th Ave S. Park was renamed John C. Little, Sr. Park. Mr. Little was a member of the Board of Park Commissioners for seven years, helped found the Central Area Youth Association, and created a 4-H program for Seattle. Naming the park after him celebrates his service and career developing programs to support low income families, disadvantaged youth and the community.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
In April 2004, the community met with Parks staff at a public meeting for the first time to discuss their wishes for the park. The following ideas that came from that meeting are as follows:
Would like a fountain and wading pool
Several attendees would like an Off Leash Area
The existing childrens area is too small
Paths with benches
Would like to see something for dogs and a place for people to
exercise. Water features trails with concrete and shade. Something safe and clean
Would like to see a P-Patch
Like children
Would like to garden in a small space
Would like to be able to walk around park. It can be difficult for older people.
Like the whirl spinning play feature.
Grand kids come to park
Sitting area
Like swings
Would like to have a grill
Picnic structures should have sink to supply water like at Woodland Park
Would like to have small garden
Like picnic shelters with grill and tables
Like spray ground
Like water feature, pond or fountain rather than play feature. Want safety
West side of garden has a small ditch with water running through it much of the time.
Would like a shared common area next to garden, or connected to a garden area located toward the hill. The garden should accommodate needs of people who live here.
Need pullouts on paths for wheel chairs
Would there be a covered area to sit in when it rains?
Would like a bridge with a pond. Picture spot for wedding.
A place for roller blades.
Hold meeting during day before 5 p.m.
