Parks is currently working to complete the construction documents or the project. Our intent is to publicly advertise the project for construction bids in spring 2007, with construction taking place in summer 2007.
Parks is modifying the original plans for the improvement project to include accommodation of high school baseball practice. This change includes barrier fence netting around portions of the field to protect cars and spectators from errant foul balls.
Also, during the early schematic design, Parks design staff responded to a request from the Ultimate Frisbee community to provide field space that would accommodate back-to-back field layouts for scheduled events. The design will provide a continguous turf area, between natural and artificial turf, for Ultimate Frisbee use, and without disruption of the soccer or baseball field configuration.
In response to a request from the community and with the support of Park Superintendent Bounds, this project will also complete the safety fencing at the north end of the site.

| PROJECT DESCRIPTION |
This project will convert the nearly three acres of sand/clay field surface into synthetic and natural turf. The synthetic turf portion will accommodate soccer and one baseball field.
The existing northeast softball backstop and fencing are slated for removal, and the one-half-acre sand surface that does not overlap the soccer field is intended to be converted to natural grass for drop-in community use.

| COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION |

Oct. 24, 2005: Parks design team presented concept field improvement plans to the community at a regularly held meeting of the Georgetown Community Council.
April 12, 2006 Parks met with the Georgetown Community Council Parks Committee to discuss the community request to allow Cleveland High School to play baseball of the field. Parks agreed to the request on the condition that barrier safety netting be installed around portions of the ballfield field.
July 24, 2006 - Final Public Meeting
The Parks design team briefed the Georgetown Community Council, and informed interested community members of the the final program elements to be included in the project given the available budget.
