On June 18, 2004 the community gathered to celebrate
the purchase of property at Queen Anne Ave N and Roy St. for a new park.
The site selection process for this acquisition project included:
June 13, 2002: Community meeting
Discussion of potential sites and possible park uses to be included in
site feasibility studies.
June 22, 2002: Walking tour of potential park sites and report on planning
status.
July 11, 2002: Open House and Community Meeting
- Presentation of site concept drawings
- Preliminary recommendations from the community for site priorities and
possible park uses.
July-September: Publicity in the Uptown neighborhood about potential sites
September 12, 2002: Community Meeting
- Parks and Recreation update on process, and recommendations for priority
site and possible park uses.
- Community presents feedback and comments regarding Parks recommendations.
April 2004: Parks and Recreation acquired the priority site identified
by the community: the .28 acre vacant property at the northeast corner
of Queen Anne Ave N and Roy St.
2005: Planning and design for park development is scheduled to begin in
2005, through the Pro Parks Levy. (See the
