Special Needs Toddler Drop-in Play Space @ Laurelhurst Community Center Fridays from 10 a.m. to Noon (January 6 - March 9; No program January 27).

The Specialized Programs Section of the Seattle of Parks and Recreation offers year-round activities for people with disabilities. The purpose is to provide recreational opportunities for individuals who may choose to participate in activities specifically designed and conducted by trained staff to best meet their needs.

Track team at the Wheelchair Sports Jamboree

Activities include

  • Special Olympics Sports of all kinds
  • Wheelchair basketball teams
  • Weekend trips
  • After school programs
  • Classes, such as: cooking, dance and aerobics
  • Extensive camping program during the summer

The programs are particularly suited to people with severe developmental or multiple disabilities.

The Specialized Programs staff will also work with individuals or family members who would prefer to integrate into other Department programs but need some type of accommodation such as an interpreter.
