Volunteering - Adopt-a-Park

Through Seattle's innovative Adopt-a-Park Program, "what if" becomes "look what we've done." Thousands of citizens and hundreds of community groups have used the Adopt-a-Park Program to aid Parks employees in caring for green spaces. Volunteers not only help restore the beauty of their surroundings, but they plan and implement projects that guarantee today's children will have a place to bring their own children in the future.

Created in 1982, Seattle's Adopt-a-Park Program has been nationally recognized for the public-private partnerships it supports. Individuals, community organizations, businesses, schools, neighborhoods and youth groups all participate in the program, which offers tools, materials, technical support and insurance to its volunteers.

Through the Adopt-a-Park Program, schools use parks as outdoor laboratories; beaches are cleaned up; play areas are rebuilt; trees are planted; wetlands and creeks are restored, and parks safety is increased.
