Benefits Plan Information
You will find important information about your health and wellness benefits, and the tools you need to make decisions for you and your covered family members. Be sure to contact your department's benefits representative if you have questions.

Whooping Cough:
Whooping cough (pertussis), a highly contagious respiratory disease, is at epidemic levels in Washington state. Because the booster vaccination may not be appropriate for every individual, contact your health care provider with questions about your status. See information for City employees.

Long-Term Care Insurance Update:
The City's current Long-Term Care insurance carrier, John Hancock, stopped accepting new enrollees after December 31, 2011. The City will switch to a new carrier - Prudential - in the fall.

• Current Long-Term Care plan participants will receive information in June to help them decide whether to move to the new carrier or continue with John Hancock.

• All eligible employees* who DO NOT currently participate in the LTC plan will receive information in August regarding a Special Enrollment Period in September to enroll with the new carrier.

Watch your email for details.

* Includes Most and Local 27 employees and all retirees; excludes SPOG, Local 77 and Fire Chiefs.

Weight Watchers At-Work Series:
Working toward a healthier weight? See if Weight Watchers might work for you. Enroll by calling 1-866-442-1232 with Employee number, medical plan ID number, and credit card information. Members receive special City pricing.

May Wellness Newsletter: Find City wellness programs and events, and articles on what is a locavore, food additives 101, medications that raise blood pressure, brain food, and introducing kids to mother nature. Share the newsletter with family members by forwarding it to your personal email address.
