| Planning Reorganization |
- Participate in and provide input to Office of Policy Management (OPM), Council and Department of Construction and Land Use (DCLU) regarding reorganization of planning functions within the City, including the Seattle Planning Commission’s (SPC) relationships and roles vis a vis changes in how planning is organized and focused.
- Work with the newly formed DCLU planning group to develop its mission and work plan, including the Planning Commission’s role.

| Comprehensive Plan |
- Review and provide formal recommendations to the City Council on proposed 2002 Comprehensive Plan amendments. Review and comment on City analysis and resulting recommendations for approval of specific amendments through a formal letter to Council.
- Work with DCLU to develop and implement a community education strategy to increase the public's awareness and knowledge about the Comp Plan.
- Advise and assist in carrying out the Comp Plan Case Study project - advising on selection of case study areas, on analysis of data and broader use of case study findings to inform growth strategies/growth targets discussions. Conduct focus groups in case study areas and prepare findings as part of the project.

| Transportation Policy / Planning |
- Work with City staff and elected officials to identify and address policy conflicts among transportation policies regarding pedestrians, freight and transit mobility, particularly as they affect achieving neighborhood plan and Comprehensive Plan goals.
- Participate in joint working sessions with Seattle Design Commission (SDC), City and Washington State Departments of Transportation staff in development of Alaska Way Viaduct replacement alternatives; participate on Alaska Way Viaduct Leadership Group.
- Continue participation (3 Commissioners and Director) on Light Rail Review Panel (LRRP) - advising Sound Transit on station and system design issues.
- Participate in joint SPC/SDC and Elevated Transportation Company (ETC) ad hoc committee through 2002, analyzing work of ETC and providing input on planning and design aspects of monorail proposal.
- Prepare position papers and recommendations to mayor and Council at key points in the Alaska Way Viaduct (AWV) and monorail planning processes.

| Affordable Housing/Neighborhood Planning/Urban Centers |
- Advise DCLU and elected officials, through formal and informal input, on specific land use policy, code and process changes aimed at increased housing production and expanding housing choices, particularly of affordable housing. Assist in public dialogue about these changes.
- Review and provide input on development of the housing levy package, including a letter of support for the Executive’s proposed levy package to the City Council.
- Continue to participate (two Commissioners and Director) on Neighborhood Planning Implementation Advisory Committee (NPIAC); help develop proposal regarding sunset of NPIAC and other mechanisms to provide ongoing policy advice to City.
- Provide input on neighborhood planning policy issues relative to Comp Plan goals.
- Monitor/review Sector Plan quarterly updates; work with Department of Neighborhoods (DON) and neighborhood plan stewards to identify and address Comp Plan related issues.
- Monitor and provide advice/input to City on Downtown Environmental Impact Study (EIS) as it moves toward completion and decisions.

| Northgate |
- Continue to monitor and follow Northgate planning, particularly regarding transportation policy, General Development Plan (GDP), and town center development issues.
- Explore with community the potential for a follow-up town center charrette for 2003

| Center City Open Space Startegy |
- Based on briefings on Center City Open Space Strategy, provide input to CityDesign and City Council on draft strategy.

| South Lake Union |
- Through periodic briefings, stay informed and involved in the variety of South Lake Union activities (Public Realm Plan; transportation projects, South Lake Union Park). Advocate development of a strong, clear City approach to South Lake Union regarding ETC, Alaska Way Viaduct, Areawide Transportation Plan, and Public Realm Plan.
