The suspect admitted to the crime and all of the stolen property was immediately recovered and returned to the victim. The entire incident, from the time of the theft to the recovery of all stolen property and positive identification of the suspect, took only 26 minutes!

North ACT officers Rob Hagerty, Thomas Hanley, and Jonathan Huber heard information broadcast of a carjacking in Shoreline. Officers found the unoccupied suspect vehicle at 4500 blk University Way and developed a plan to arrest the suspects when they returned. The suspects eventually returned to the car and tried to exit the parking lot but the vehicle was pinned in. The driver panicked and put the car in reverse, ramming into the ACT vehicle. Officer Hanley suffered a minor injury to his hand due to the collision. Once the suspect vehicle was completely stopped, the officers removed the suspects and a loaded gun from the vehicle. Officers were able to illicit statements from two of the passengers in the car, which implicated the driver in the armed robbery that occurred when the car was taken from the victim. The suspect driver was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery, Assault, and Violation of Uniform Firearm Act |
