About the Captain Captain Les Liggins began his career in the Seattle Police Department in September of 1985. As a police officer he worked patrol in the South, East and West Precincts. Throughout that time, Captain Liggins also worked in training as both as a Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLET) instructor and SPD BLET Training Supervisor. Captain Liggins has a long history with the South Precinct, serving both as a patrol Sergeant and Watch Commander there. As a Lieutenant, he served as the supervisor of Fraud, Forgery and Financial Exploitation Unit, the Auto Theft Unit, and the Metropolitan Section. He was promoted to Captain of the Metropolitan Section in 2004. As Captain he also supervised the Audit, Accreditation and Policy Section. Captain Liggins was the project lead of the Neighborhood Policing Project. Captain Liggins graduated from Cheyney University with a BA in Accounting. He is involved in numerous community outreach efforts including the Race and Social Justice Initiative, and Department Community Advisory groups.
