PRECINCT CAPTAIN Jim Dermody
Captain Dermody began his police career with the Seattle Police Department in January of 1990. He is a second generation Seattle Police Officer who was born, raised and still resides in the city. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Society and Justice from the University of Washington. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University and is a member of Leadership Tomorrow’s Class of 2008.
His previous assignments include Patrol, Anti-Crime and SWAT at both the officer and sergeant ranks. After promotion to Lieutenant in 2001, assignments have included East Precinct Watch Commander and Operations (including Weed & Seed Grant), Southwest Precinct Watch Commander, West Precinct Operations and Homicide/Assault/CSI. He has the collateral duty of administrative oversight of the Critical Incident Stress Management and Hospital Response Teams. He was promoted to Captain in 2009 with the East Precinct as his first Precinct command.
