Seattle Weed & Seed Program
Central Site

HISTORY of CENTRAL SITE

The Central Seattle site is located in the East Precinct, incorporating the neighborhoods of Broadway and Capitol Hill.  The site received federal funding from 1992 to 2006, and was one of the first national sites to receive official recognition under the Weed and Seed Initiative.  Central Seattle has a long history of partnerships between business owners, residents and police, which has strengthened the neighborhood and built a strong foundation for safer neighborhoods for families and youth. Seattle Neighborhood Group continues to lead community organization efforts within the Central site through workshops, criminal justice information, meeting facilitation and crime prevention tips.

Central Seattle became a graduated site in 2007 and continues to implement components of the Weed & Seed Strategy, without the benefit of federal funding.
