SPD Information Technology Section

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SPD IT SECTION

The Information Technology Section is responsible for all automated systems in the Department, from desktop computers to central records management systems, from mobile data computers in police vehicles to the computer aided dispatch system. The Section is organized to provide service and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure the operational integrity and reliability of the automated systems in the Department.

• Supports mission-critical applications

• External agency systems interfaces and integration

• Designs, develops, implements and maintains systems and applications

• End user support and assistance

• New technology research and testing

• Highly secured systems and applications

• Plans I.T. development, acquisition, utilization, support, and life cycle replacement

• Effectively leverage I.T. systems, services, and applications

• Manage assets and license compliance

The SPD Information Technology Section makes sure all patrol cars are updated with the latest in mobile computer technology.
