GENERAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT This unit consists of one sergeant and four detectives and functions in a pro-active undercover capacity as well as conducting follow-up investigations. This unit investigates all cases involving a prostitute or a pimp. This includes sexual assaults, robberies and thefts including all forms of illegal gambling that requires follow-up investigation. Proactive cases involve escort services that operate as a front for prostitution. This type of case mainly targets the customers of the prostitutes, the johns. STREET VICE The Street Vice Unit currently operates with four full time detectives and one sergeant. The primary emphasis of the Unit is the enforcement of crimes related to street prostitution. This includes O & A (offer and agree to an act of prostitution), prostitution loitering, SOAP violations (Stay Out of Area of Prostitution - probation requirement), patronizing a prostitute, adult entertainment, and escort services and promoting prostitution. Additionally, the Street Vice Unit continues to place emphasis on arresting and prosecuting street level pimps and also investigates internet prosecution. |
The Street Vice unit enforces SOAP (Stay Out of Area of Prostitution) violations within the city. |
