Committees The work of the Association committees is at the center of SMA’s ability to achieve its mission of being a leading professional development organization. SMA Board Members play an active role in leading and working on these committees. SMA members are invited to take advantage of a great networking opportunity by becoming an active member of any committee. Awards Recognition The Executive Team is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations for the ongoing development of the Awards Program. The committee will coordinate the solicitation for annual award nominations and manage the evaluation process. The team will also plan and implement the annual recognition event. Darby DuComb, President Fund Development This committee is responsible for pursuing new revenue sources for the association. This will include membership development and may include coordinating partnerships with organizations to co-sponsor or fund special events. Bobby Forch, Chair Marketing and Communication This committee is responsible for communication, marketing, member recruitment and retention strategies. Members on this committee will work closely with the other committees to develop communication strategies that benefit the unique qualities of each event. This committee meets monthly and as needed to develop event specific communication strategies. Deb Schlenker, Chair Event Planning This committee is responsible for the development and implementation of SMA events which include informal educational events, keynote presentations and networking events. In addition to program management, the committee’s responsibility includes coordinating event greeters and working collaboratively with the Marketing and Communication Committee to promote the event.
