Keeping Seattle Moving
Innovative Parking Solutions for the Center City

SDOT recognizes the critical role parking plays in our economy and is actively working with stakeholders on better ways to provide short-term visitor and customer parking. We are preparing for the challenge of Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall replacement and for future growth. Click here to read Center City Parking Fast Facts.

Taking Action

Over the past year and a half, SDOT has worked with the Alaskan way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement project, a group of national and international experts and a local Parking Advisory Committee and used data from the Center City Parking Program Technical Report to develop a Center City Parking Program. We are currently developing a work plan to begin implementing projects. Click here to see a PowerPoint presentation giving an overview of the program.

In 2006 a noted German expert Dr Dirk Serwill, developed a conceptual framework for an electronic parking guidance system in Seattle. His presentation is available here.
