Curb Colors
The City of Seattle employs several different curb colors to indicate specific curb space uses. A white curb can mean several things such as a:  Passenger Load/Unload Zone: This is a type of load zone that provides a place to load and unload passengers for adjacent dwellings and businesses. These are intended for quick passenger drop-offs and pick-ups, and should not be used for loading or unloading items from a vehicle.  SPD Vehicles Only: This space is reserved 24 hours a day for Seattle Police Department vehicles. Spaces are also sometimes signed for Law Enforcement Vehicles Only (such as Seattle Police Department, King County Sheriff's Department, etc.).  Fire Department Vehicles Only: This space is reserved 24 hours a day for any type of Fire Department vehicle. A yellow curb can mean several things such as a:  Generic Load/Unload Zone: This type of load zone can be used for several types of loading and unloading activities, including dropping off or picking up passengers, loading or unloading items from private vehicles (such as personal or company cars or trucks), and loading or unloading from items from commercial delivery vehicles.  Truck-only Load Zone: Time The purpose of this load zone is to provide a place to load or unload products, merchandise, or other objects. Only vehicles licensed as trucks may use this type of load zone.  Commercial Vehicle Load Zone: This type of load zone provides, on busy streets, a special space for service delivery vehicles to conduct loading and unloading activities.  Taxi Stand: for taxis to park in between calls, and  Driveway Markings to provide clearance for vehicles entering or exiting a driveway. A red curb means:  Tow-Away Zone - You may not park, even temporarily, in a Tow-Away Zone. Vehicles in a Tow-Away Zone are subject to fines and immediate removal and impound. An alternating red and yellow curb means:  Bus Zone - You may not park, even temporarily, in a Bus Zone. Vehicles in a Bus Zone are subject to fines and immediate removal and impound (see Tow Away Zone). |
