What is SeaPark, SDOT’s Performance-Based Parking Pricing Program?

Since late 2010, SDOT has set on-street parking rates and hours of operation based on data in SeaPark, SDOT’s Performance-based Pricing Program.  The Mayor and City Council articulated the policy to use current occupancy data to set rates and hours so that, on average, one to two spaces are available on a block for visitor and shopper access. Goal is to improve the parking experience by enabling people to find parking within easy walking distance of their destination and spend less time circling for parking, which also means less congestion and vehicle emissions.

Look for the new SeaPark signs with the P logo.

2012 Changes

Based on funding from 2012 Budget, SDOT is making these changes this year with new SeaPark signs and educational materials:

• Ten areas will see maximum hourly parking extended to four hours or all-day
• Eight areas with evening paid parking will see maximum hourly parking extended from two hours to three hours after 5 pm
• Five areas will see a $0.25/hour or $0.50/hour rate increase (about 15% of total spaces)
• Three areas will see a $0.50/hour rate decrease (about 10% of total spaces)

No paid parking changes will be made in Fremont, First Hill, Green Lake, 12th Avenue, and Cherry Hill.
