Pay Station Neighborhoods: Pike/Pine
Updated August 25, 2005
In Fall 2004 SDOT replaced the Pike/Pine neighborhood's parking meters with pay stations. At the same time, staff conducted a parking study and an outreach process to determine if customer parking in the eastern part of the neighborhood could be improved by converting time-limited and unrestricted parking to paid.
SDOT has scaled back the previously proposed areas for expansion after careful review of on-street parking conditions, area land uses, and community comments about the difficulties of changing from free to paid parking. More information is available in the community letter and map that was recently sent to Pike/Pine residents, businesses and property owners.
Installation of new pay stations will begin the first week of October 2005. Meter greeters, in red caps and vests, will be on-hand in the weeks after installation to help users become familiar with the new parking technology.
