Seattle Transit Initiative

ICT Home | STI Home

Seattle Transit Intiative (STI) is a City-sponsored partnership of agencies involved in building, operating and supporting transit services. The goals of STI are:

  • Strengthen the partnership between the City and four agencies
  • Improve existing and future transit mobility for travelers within the City
  • Evaluate new higher capacity transit alternatives

Seattle Department of Transportation is managing the Seattle Transit Initiative and the Seattle Transit Study, planning and coordinating various STI projects with the partners and other City departments. An example of a recently completed STI project is the bus speed and efficiency project along Madison Street, which allows buses to move more easily through First Hill and reduces their travel time.
