Resources for Residents
The following resources are for residents living on a natural drainage system (NDS) street.
- • King County Yard talk episode 12: Green Roofs and Rain Garden -Episode Synopsis: Our homes have an impact on the environment. When water flows off of paved surfaces, compacted ground, and rooftops and rushes into streams, it deposits pollutants and scours streambeds. Everyone can help reduce their impact on Puget Sound through innovative technologies including green roofs, rain gardens and pavement that allows water to soak into the ground.
- • Practically Easy Landscape Manual: A Care Manual for Natural Drainage Systems, Fall 2006 Edition (PDF) - This manual outlines the responsibilities of the City and of residents in maintaining natural drainage systems. It also includes helpful tips for major landscape maintenance tasks needed to establish and nurture NDS plantings, or to maintain any residential yard.
- • Plant Identification (PDF) - Provides color photos, special needs, and environmental requirements of NDS plants.
- • Landscape Maintenance Calendar and Guide (PDF) - This handy guide provides watering, weeding, mulching, and other gardening tips for each season.
