Assessment of Juvenile Chinook
U.S. Fish and Wildlife's Assessment of Juvenile Chinook
The City of Seattle has worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service since 2000 to examine juvenile Chinook salmon in the Lake Washington watershed. The 2003-2004 annual report (PDF) includes information about residence areas and timing in Lake Washington, use of restoration sites, juvenile Chinook depth selection, feeding and use of nonnatal tributaries, use of woody debris and overhanging vegetation, and migration behavior. The report also summarizes juvenile Chinook habitat use in Lake Quinalt, which is used as a reference system for Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish.
