Looking back on 2006
Thank you to all volunteers who have dedicated your time and energy toward maintaining Seattle’s unique watersheds.

Take a look at last year’s progress:

  • • 1459 Creek Steward volunteers put in a total of 4225 hours.
  • • Nearly 1560 native trees and shrubs were planted along creeks
  • • Over 100 yards of blackberry and ivy pulled
  • • Nearly 100 garbage bags of other invasive species removed from Seattle’s five main creek watersheds.
Great work everyone!

On October 28, 2006, 27 volunteers from the surrounding community joined efforts with Earth Corps to plant over 605 native trees and shrubs at a former housing site along Thornton Creek. The site, upstream of a future Seattle Public Utilities restoration project, is owned by Seattle Parks and provides a connection to a continuous corridor of creekside habitat in public ownership.
