Garbage at Your House

All residents of single-family homes within Seattle city limits are required to pay for garbage service.

Most single-family homes use garbage cans. See how to manage your garbage service
online and get details on Garbage Can Rates.

Dumpster service is also available.

Collection Schedule
Garbage is collected every week.
Look up Your Collection Day online (single family houses only) or call (206) 684-3000 to find out about the collection schedule. Collection is normal on all holidays except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Following each of those holidays, service will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Why Waste a Good Thing?
Before throwing something in the trash, consider if you can
recycle or reuse it. Even food scraps and yard waste can find a second life as compost. Items such as building materials, vehicle batteries, used motor oil and tires can be recycled at the Recycling & Disposal Stations. See Special Items for details.
