Determine if a product is hazardous
Hazardous products are usually labeled Danger, Poison, Caution or Warning.

See the King County Local Hazardous Waste Management Program for information on determining which products are hazardous and how to use and dispose of these products safely.

You may also be able to contact the manufacturer for more health and safety information.

Reduce hazardous products in your home
  • • Buy less toxic products, and/or buy only the amount you will use.

  • • Choose safe cleaning products for your home.

  • • Use natural pest, weed and disease control in your yard, and natural lawn care techniques to reduce your use of fertilizers, pesticides, and other hazardous chemicals.

  • • Use up hazardous products or give them to someone who can use them.

  • • Dispose of products safely.

  • • Buy paint in amounts that you need, and use up leftover paint. Dry out small amounts of leftover latex paint and throw can in garbage.
Small Business Hazardous Waste Disposal Pilot Project
