Household Hazardous Waste

The region’s Household Hazardous Waste Facilities accept a variety of chemicals, as well as batteries and fluorescent light bulbs and tubes.

Accepted at Household Hazardous Waste Facilities
Antifreeze and motor oil Drain openers Hobby chemicals Cleaning products Paint thinners Pool and spa supplies Batteries - alkaline, button, rechargeable and vehicle batteries Vehicle batteries Oil-based paint	Pesticides Propane tanks Wood preservatives Glues and adhesives Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes (also accepted at many retail stores) Mercury-containing thermometers and thermostats

NOT Accepted at Household Hazardous Waste Facilities
Asbestos Medical wastes Commercial hazardous waste Latex paint and latex stain Needles, syringes and other sharps	Computers and electronics TVs and VCRs Ammunition Explosives

Syringes, tires and other items that are not accepted at Household Hazardous Waste facilities can be taken to Recycling & Disposal Stations with special preparation.
Materials-such as computers, TVs, asbestos, and explosives-that are not accepted at Household Hazardous Waste facilities or Transfer Stations may be accepted for recycling or disposal by other organizations.

Determine if a product is hazardous

Hazardous products are usually labeled Danger, Poison, Caution or Warning.
