Disposal of Pesticide Products
Pesticides are hazardous waste
To dispose of them either use up as directed (provided the products are still currently registered) or dispose of at a hazardous waste collection facility. Disposal down the drain or in the trash is illegal in Washington state, despite instructions on most product labels.
Disposal options
Options depend on your geographic location and whether you're a business or individual:
- • Pesticides generated by small businesses are not eligible for disposal at the household hazardous waste sites. For information on hazardous waste disposal for small businesses, call the Business Waste Line at 296-3976, or visit the Business Waste Web site.
- • For City of Seattle residents, unused pesticides are considered household hazardous waste. See Hazardous Waste for disposal information.
- • For residents outside the City of Seattle in King County, information regarding times of operation, location, and products accepted can be obtained by calling the Hazards Line at 296-4692, or see King County's Household Hazardous Waste Web site.
