KING-TV, Seattle WA 1985-98
Created, anchored, and produced the award-winning weekly Compton Report for IO years. In 412 episodes, the program covered topics from .economics and politics to popular culture and the media, and achieved a 6.9/14 rating, the highest of any such program in the country. The Compton Report, which aired Sunday evenings' at 6:30, originated from many US cities, as well as Singapore, Hong Kong, Moscow, Kiev, Shanghai, Edinburgh, and Bremen, Norway., Guests included Madeline Albright, Geraldo Rivera, Hunter Thompson, Carolyn Kennedy, Pat Robertson, and Ross Perot. The Compton Report won most of the broadcast industry's major awards, including the Columbia-Dupont Prize, the Gabriel Award, the Janus Award, and the Golden Globe of the San Francisco Film Festival.

Documentary Writer/Producer/ Narrator 1984-92
Produced 12 one-hour documentaries, which won a variety of prizes in the industry. Lost in the System (foster care), Pollution in Paradise (water quality), and Unfinished,4nger (African-American politics in Seattle) won particular acclaim.

NBC News, London 1979-84
As correspondent, contributed to all NBC programs including Nightly News and Today. Reported from dozens of countries in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Covered wars in Beirut, Iraq and the Falklands (from London). Interviewed world leaders from Sadat to deKlerc.

NBC News Cairo, Egypt 77-79
As correspondent, managed news and editorial output of large network news bureau with 20 employees, including camera crews, drivers, and news personnel. Reported from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Israel. Several editorial coups included the first report. of the death of the Shah of Iran, and Sadat's admission he conducted secret negotiations with Israel.

King Broadcasting Washington Bureau 1976-77
Founded and managed the first DC news bureau for a regional station group. Responsibilities included finding and equipping a large office, recruiting technical and editorial staff, and overseeing the output of reporters serving four stations in the. Pacific Northwest. Reported from White House and Congress for King's stations.

Reporter-Anchor, KGW-TV, 1964-68
At the NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregon, reported on city hall and legislature, and produced and anchored weekend newscasts.

Assistant Managing Editor, Rome Daily American, 1970-73
Did all-purpose duty from scheduling staff to writing a daily editorial and laying out the front page for a small but well-known English language daily in Italy. Responsibilities included management of typeshop, creation of special editorial supplements, and reporting on Italian affairs and politics. During this period acted as stringer for Voice of America, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, and other organizations.

Fulbright Scholar, Bucharest, Romania 1969-70
Spent a year consulting with and studying the television system of Romania.

Documentary Writer/ Producer, KING-TV 1964-68
Began career in broadcast news with NBC radio affiliate in Portland, Oregon. Transferred to documentary unit at NBC station in Seattle, where worked as sound recordist, film editor, writer, and producer of monthly documentary program.

Merchant Seaman, Pacific Coast, 1961-64
Spent one full, year and several summers during college as seaman on freighters and tankers on Pacific Coast. Traveled to Alaska, Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong. Member, Sailors Union of Pacific.
